I was just amazed when I heard Bryan was doing this interview with K*102 - Last year at this time they were not being very nice to Bryan! (See Bryan at the Mall of America for that story!)
K*102 has gotten MUCH better since then, still won't play his new music, but they are playing some of his old stuff now - which is better than nothin'...
Chris Carr: ...Welcome back to Minneapolis
Bryan White: Thank you
Chris Carr: As we were just talking professionally one of you favorite towns
Bryan White: Yeah, by far
Chris Carr: And is it on for your favorites towns personally as well?
Bryan White: Yeah, I've just been a big fan of here, playing here. Because I know why but we have had just the biggest following here since I started making records, it's just been an incredible response. We've sold records statistically here than any other state in the United States
Chris Carr: Really??
Bryan White: Yeah, so it's just been incredible, I love coming here!
In the lobby, signing autographs
Chris Carr: Well, ya know you show a true sincere sense appreciation on stage I think for that. And people dig that. I remember the Minnesota Stage Fair, was it 3 years ago? We put you in a hummer...
Bryan White: Yeah *laughs*
Chris Carr: ...the Station Hummer and you couldn't even move there. It was like Elvis Presly was in this Hummer. A you were what at the time? 3 years old?
Bryan White: HA HA HA!
Chris Carr: How old are you?
Bryan White: How old do you think I am?
Chris Carr: ah... 27?
Bryan White: 26
Chris Carr: are you 26? so you were 23 years old
Bryan White: Yeah, I was 23 then
Chris Carr: It was unbelievable!
They cut to play HOW LONG!!!
Posing with Travis Moon, Travis'
wife Joni, and their baby Chloe
Chris Carr: [How Long from Bryan White] Greatest Hits, in stores now, go buy it right now! Great Song!
Bryan White: Thanks
Chris Carr: One other thing I wanted to bring up, what we were leading into before we played the record. Congratulations to you & Erika
Bryan White: Thanks
Chris Carr: Been talking about it for some time now, how long have you two been seeing each other?
Bryan White: I think we've been together for about 3 1/2 years
Chris Carr: ok, when did you tie the knot?
Bryan White: October 14th, about 2 1/2 weeks ago
Chris Carr: oh, wow! You really are a newly wed!
Bryan White: yeah!
Chris Carr: What are you doing here?!
Hanging out in the studio
Bryan White: Well, ya gotta work ya know. We went straight back to work. We had a kinda short honeymoon, like 6 days then went right back to work. She's already back in New York doing One Live to Live and I'm here in Minneapolis!
Chris Carr: When do you guys ever see each other?
Bryan White: All the time, we kinda have our one week rule - we try not to go longer than a week without seeing each other. We just been real lucky to be able to fly a lot.
Chris Carr: ok, lets get the cliche questions out if the way...
Bryan White: oh, oh
Chris Carr: How did you meet? Then were gonna get a little dirty here - How did you meet?
Bryan White: *laughs* how much time ya got? We met at a benefit in LA right before I kinda got really going strong. We just kind of met in passing. She was there at the benefit with Neal McCoy a real good friend of mine. And she knew Neal and his wife real well. And a year later Neal and I were doing some dates together up in Michigan and he just kept begging and pestering me to call her. I really couldn't remember that well who she was/who he was talking about
Doing his interview
Chris Carr: oh, you're kidding!!
Bryan White: Well, I could remember meeting her but I couldn't remember what she looked like or anything. So he kept bugging me and lost her phone number like twice and finally I called her...
Chris Carr: Can I interject - Guys this is what's it like when you popular and you got just millions of hot women on ya. Day in day out just all the time. You don't remember Erika Page is - famous soap opera star
Bryan White: Well, now it wasn't that, so much. We just barley shook hands, and that was it, I didn't get to talk to her much
Chris Carr: oh, ok
Bryan White: So I called her and we went out in LA. She was living in LA at the time doing a show called Second Noah. And we've been together 3 1/2 years ever since then
Chris Carr: Wow, so you just started talking on the phone and just kinda hit it off? Bryan White: yeah
Looking nummy!

Chris Carr: Mentally were just very in tune with each other, so you just said I'm gonna come out and hang with ya?
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: alright
Bryan White: Exactly, she grew up in a pretty close area to where I grew up. So we had a lot of stuff in common. It was wild, we hit it off real easy cause of the way we were brought up, I guess
Chris Carr: Did you bring her anything when you first went out to meet her? Did ya have a little gift for her?
Bryan White: no, but the first thing I remember buying for her, I bought her a rain stick from Hawaii. It was like an old antique rain stick.
Chris Carr: That you put on you house?
Bryan White: yeah, and I sent that to her. That's the first thing I remember buying for her.
Chris Carr: Very interesting - a rain stick
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: I tell ya what, she'll never forget that
Bryan White: *laughs*
Chris Carr: wasn't the flowers, wasn't a card, here's a rain stick!
Bryan White: So if I even need that to put some percussion stuff on a record I can just call her up - hey, let me barrow that there rain stick I sent you
Chris Carr: yeah, times are tough right now, need that rain stick back
Bryan White: *laugh* yeah
Chris Carr: Which brings us to your first kiss, when did that happen?
Bryan White: oh, gosh!
Chris Carr: Was is right at the airport?
Bryan White: umm, it was the night of the ACM awards. We went to the ACM awards about 2 or 3 weeks after meeting each other. We just kind of went as buddies and you know... the rest - it just happened that night
Chris Carr: Really? Right after the awards show!
Bryan White: yeah, well actually she was dropping me off at the airport cause I had to go back to Canada cause I was on tour with Vince Gill so it was kinda sad ya know... cause you just kinda hang out a little bit then you gotta to go. But that's how our relationships been since we met so were totally used to it
Chris Carr: Wow. did you win anything that night?
Bryan White: No I didn't, the year before is when won my first...
Chris Carr: That's when you won the Horizon
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: you answered that incorrectly, I'm glad that she's not listening maybe she is on the web right now
Bryan White: *laughs* she doesn't own a computer, so she couldn't be
Chris Carr: But you won everything that night, mister!
Bryan White: *laughs*
Chris Carr: HA Gottcha!!
Chris Carr: Hey, another track on the CD, Bryan White's Greatest Hits Track 9 The Way You Look at Me
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: Now does this have anything to do with what we were just talking about. Tell us about this song...
Bryan White: This is a song that a couple of my good friends wrote Scott Emerick and John Tirro. Scott Emerick plays guitar with me on stage and its another tune I've just been dieing to put on a record for a long time. It's just a song that... exactly what the title says, you know - it's not the way you look, it's the way you look at me. It's just a partner praising their partner. I think it's incredible. Its a great song, it's kinda got a Don Williams meets James Taylor, I guess.
Chris Carr: oh, neat, and we're gonna play this one. Is this going to part of your live performance?
Bryan White: It will be real soon
Chris Carr: ok great, lets put it on the air here. The Way You Look at Me, Bryan White - Today's Best Country - K*102, more Bryan coming up in just a second, listen to this new one... [they play The Way You Look at Me]
Chris Carr: Bryan White on Today's Best Country K*102. That would be track #9 on Bryan White's Greatest Hits. Go buy it at Sam Goody The Way You Look at Me. We're just talking about a small world - it's funny that every time I watch a show, every time I see a band there's always somebody from the local area.
Bryan White: Really?
Chris Carr: For you it's true, but we were all thinking is it like do they draw in a hat - ok who's gonna be from Minneapolis tonight
Bryan White: yeah.
Chris Carr: 'cause was in Baltimore, saw Elton John - "and our bass is from - Baltimore Maryland!" or whoever. There's always somebody from that area. Ya know you could be in Rhinelander Wisconsin - "And from Rhinelander Wisconsin... "
Bryan White: yeah *laughs*
Chris Carr: But your guy, your drummer is from Minneapolis
Bryan White: Yeah, our drummer is from Minneapolis
Chris Carr: We were talking about it a little bit off air, tell us how you guys got hooked up
Bryan White: Well, funny story. Its amazing you meet people in your life and you never know whats going to happen with your connections through those people. But a friend of mine, is name is Paul Peterson and he's a well renowned bass player, he's played with Steve Miller, played on the Donnie and Marie show. Played on a lot of huge records. Because of him, when we were needing a drummer real bad we were holding auditions in Nashville he told us to call this guy named Joe Finger. So we called him and he was in LA at the time and he flew to Nashville on a red eye in order to get there. We had one more person to audition and it was him, he flew all the way across the country to come audition for the band and it just worked out perfect, it was like clock work. And his first show with us, he said -well I can't say this on the air, but he was so nervous *laughs* the first show that he did with us...
Chris Carr: You can say anything on this radio station
Bryan White: Well, I'll say ahh "you couldn't blah blah blah with a team of Clydesdales" I'll just put it like that
Bryan White: And the first show he did with us was New Years Eve our opening tour with LeAnn Rimes here at the Target Center two years ago. And he's just incredible, a great singer and a great drummer and a great addition to this band
Chris Carr: What a great show that was!
Bryan White: Yeah!
Chris Carr: How soon after someone additions can you incorporate them into your band? The drummer generally kinda part of the formula, he's really has to listen on his own and he can pick it up faster than say a guitarist or someone else
Bryan White: yeah, Joe fit in like, personally wise just incredible and if you don't have a sense of humor you don't fit into well in this group *laughs* But his is just an incredible drummer. And he can play any kind of music, that's the thing about all the guys in this band they play great country music but they can also play any kind of music
Chris Carr: Well, it's not Minnesota Nice for nothin'
Bryan White: Oh, I know, man! That's what I was just tell you, what a town to be in! This is the greatest music town that there is.
Chris Carr: Why don't you move up here?
Bryan White: Well, ya know...
Chris Carr: Do you have to be hugged on to Nashville? George Strait doesn't live in Nashville
Bryan White: There you go!
Chris Carr: Does Clay Walker live in Nashville? I don't think he lives in Nashville! Garth doesn't live in Nashville!
Bryan White: Well...
Chris Carr: pick Minneapolis
Bryan White: Well, it's an option! ya know...
Chris Carr: Should! lets get it rockin' up here. Get some country music, well known people to come up here. It is a great town
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: and as you and Erika, you're gonna have babies I suppose
Bryan White: oh, yeah
Chris Carr: good, lots of 'em
Bryan White: oh, yeah
Chris Carr: This is a great place to raise your kids, very cold though
Bryan White: Just buy a bunch more coats I guess
Chris Carr: One thing that's kinda weird off your website here. Do you know what people write about on your websites?
Bryan White: sometimes. I get in there sometimes and tinker around
Chris Carr: Are you into the 3 Stooges
Bryan White: oh, yeah big time
Chris Carr: and you their collect memorabilia
Bryan White: oh, yeah
Chris Carr: What got you started in that?
Bryan White: Well, I'll tell you this short story I know you guys are always running for time
Chris Carr: no, no we got all the time in the world this is very easy for me, the more that you do my show the better! It's your sound check you have to worry about
Bryan White: Back in Oklahoma City where I'm from there's this old, used to be this old pizza parlor called Crystal's Pizza. And my brother and I and my buddies we used to scrounge up as much money as we could and we'd ride across this little cat walk on our bikes and go across the interstate to go over and buy as much pizza as we could with the change that we had and play video games and stuff. But there was this old funky little theater in the back and it was real musty and kinda cold but they had this screen
Chris Carr: Generally something you'd find on the adult side of town
Bryan White: *laughs* well, but that was all they showed was 3 Stooges old shorts that's when I became a fan when I was about 10 years old and I've been that way ever since
Chris Carr: And golf, you like to play the game of golf I hear
Bryan White: Yeah, I'm not a very good golfer but its fun
Chris Carr: Did Vince Gill get you into this? Being a good friend of Vince Gill or is this something you've done on your own?
Bryan White: I will say yeah, I never actually got to play with Vince but that's about the same time I started getting involved with it
Chris Carr: He's probably pretty snotty about it though isn't he?
Bryan White: Nah!
Chris Carr: He wouldn't play with a hack
Bryan White: Aww, nah, I bet it would get on his nerves to have someone play terrible around him, at that would be me
Chris Carr: Well, the last time I played I saw more stokes than a nursing home on a hot day
Bryan White: ha ha ha
Chris Carr: Favorite actor - Harrison Ford. Reason that I bring this up, we're digging in your past a little bit here, I loved Harrison Ford
Bryan White: Yeah
Chris Carr: He was my favorite actor ever, one of 'em
Bryan White: What are you gettin at?
Chris Carr: I thought Stars Wars was great, that's where I got hook, I was a kid, 10 years old when Stars Wars came out. The Indiana Jones movies and everything but then when I saw What Lies Beneath just recently - here's this guy always the good guy, done - he's the bad guy totally threw me off! I'm like this just ruins everything for Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford has always been... why Harrison Ford for you? What did you think of the last movie?
Bryan White: It was kinda hard to buy, I know exactly what you're talking about. Well, I sort a give people a different answer every time they ask me something like that - like what's your favorite song...
Chris Carr: We're gonna record this and put it on a website
Bryan White: oh, ok
Chris Carr: He's a liar!
Bryan White: *laughs* I'll just say he's one of those guys that consistent, as Erika would say - people trust him, he's just a real talented guy. If I see him on a bill I'll go see it just because he's part of the film. But I also like Tommy Lee Jones and Dennis Quad, I think those are great actors
Chris Carr: Harrison Ford he's still a sharp lookin' guy... he's starting to like Anthony Perkins, have you noticed that at all?
Bryan White: No...
Chris Carr: He could do the next Psycho movie
Bryan White: Next time I see him, yeah I know what you're talking about now I see it...
Chris Carr: One thing that you and I have very much in common, not that its all about me, but you hate meatloaf!
Bryan White: oh, yeah! and I hate the singer too *laughs*
Chris Carr: That's what you're talking about?
Bryan White: no, I'm kidding! I'm talking about the food
Chris Carr: I absolutely, positively hate meatloaf, I hate my mothers meatloaf. My moms in town right now and that why I bring it up. She's out driving around, first times shes been up here visiting me she doesn't love me much, her and my sister are driving around. I couldn't stand her meatloaf so much, I used take it and shove it under a plate, shove it in a napkin, shove under my leg. Just hate it, I don't know what it is about it, I just can't stand it.
Bryan White: Me neither!
Chris Carr: So I really respect the fact that you put that on your website
Bryan White: Gosh, yeah,!
Chris Carr: Well, here's the deal you've got to get off to a sound check and Bryan white tonight at the Target Center you're on at about 8:30
Bryan White: 8:30
Chris Carr: Mustang Sally, you say...
Bryan White: 7:30
Chris Carr: 7:30 They are a country band, I've had people calling in asking what Mustang Sally is all about and I told a couple people I think that its an oldies band HA! It's not! And they'll be on at about 7:30. 15 bucks to see the show tonight at the Target Center. Thank you very much for coming by
Bryan White: Anytime!!
Chris Carr: Best of luck, I know you don't need it, to you and Erika. Congratulations!

Bryan White: Thanks!
Chris Carr: Coming up in the news and such
Bryan White: yeah
Chris Carr: We're gonna play Love Is The Right Place. Why don't we take off with that.
Bryan White: sure
Chris Carr: Tell us a little bit about the tune, I asked you which song to play off Greatest Hits, now available in stores, go buy it at Sam Goody. Tell us a little bit about the tune and then we're gonna let you fly
Bryan White: Well, the Right Place was the title of the third album I released that was about the same time we were starting that tour here on New Years Eve and the Right Place was just a huge hit and I want to thank everyone out there for making this a successful song. I love singing it I could not wait to get in the studio to make that record
Chris Carr: I think that it's great that your here, as you know Minneapolis loves you, Minnesota loves you, you said its you hottest selling area and lets get a bunch of people to come out and see ya tonight at the Target Center.
